This XVIIth century village château, classed as an Historical Monument, has an exhibition of modern African art, an enclosed, private swimming pool, sheltered inner courtyard, 2 sitting rooms, 6 bedrooms, 5 shower-rooms, all comfortably modern with air conditioning, surrounded by hills and vineyards only 40 km from the Mediterranean Sea.
The Chateau of Puilacher promises you a relaxing stay in an historic and artistic environment, for up to 12 persons. In low and middle season, the castle can be rented for 6 people at a reduced rate.
Restoration and arrangement
Built between the XVth and XVIIth centuries on ancient foundations, the chateau of Puilacher has been carefully and completely restored since its acquisition by the current owners in 1975. The renovation complete, the building was chosen as an "Historical Monument » from December 21st 1984 by the French Ministry for Culture. It was then fitted out with all the modern comfort necessary.
Architectural and artistic characteristics
The architectural and artistic characteristics include the façade which we restored to it's XVIIth century glory, the vaulted staircase, the French-style ceilings one of which is the living-room ceiling with its 3 mouldings, the period furniture from various countries, the imposing fireplace, the XVIIIth and XIXth parquet flooring, the exhibition of contemporary African art with numerous paintings and sculptures. Situated in a magnificent region (the hinterland of the Hérault) which some people call the "French Tuscany".
Capacity and composition
The chateau has a capacity of 10 to 12 persons. There is a beautiful esplanade with hundred-year-old pines. Several vast reception rooms, 2 sitting rooms, 6 air-conditioned bedrooms one of which has a terrace with views over the heated swimming pool (6 x 12 m), 5 shower rooms, an office, a fully-equipped kitchen, a games room (billiard table, Ping-Pong, table football, children's games), laundry room and a TV room ( Satellite, DVD, TV). The living space is 550 m ² over 2 and a half floors ; the inner courtyard has a surface of 180 m ² ; the garden (including the esplanade and swimming pool) is 1600 m ² ; the swimming pool is 12m x 6 m ; there are 11 main rooms.
